On Saturday 7 September the first edition of the Capture the Flag or CTF event "Challenge the Cyber" will take place at the Dutch Innovation Factory in Zoetermeer. This event, which dcypher and NCSC jointly organize and is co-sponsored by Cisco Netherlands, KPN Security and Rabobank is attended by 13 teams of a total of around one hundred MBO, HBO and WO students. Participants compete for the honor, but also for the chance to qualify for the European Cyber Security Challenge in Bucharest.
The challenge, developed by Certified Secure, appeals to creativity, problem-solving abilities and cooperation. It will be interesting for supervising teachers to follow the process and evaluate it afterwards, in order to be able to take lessons learned back to the lecture hall. With this, Challenge the Cyber immediately builds a bridge between cyber security education and practice.
Want to encourage teams and taste the atmosphere? You are very welcome to come and take a look at the Dutch Innovation Factory on 7 September. We open with an explanation at 11.30 am and the competition starts at 12 noon. The prize-giving ceremony will take place around 5:30 p.m. Perhaps a good opportunity to get a picture of the contribution of CTF competitions to the development of cyber security skills?
